Deborah Kapoor has been working in the encaustic medium for 10 years
and exhibits her work regionally and nationally. Deborah holds an MFA
from The University of Delaware and a BFA from the University of North
Texas. Her newest work will be highlighted in 3 books in
2012: Michelle Belto's Paper
+ Wax, Techniques for Combining Handmade Paper with Encaustic Paint;
Catherine Nash's Contemporary
Paper; and The
World Encyclopedia of Calligraphy, (chapter on Indic
Scripts); and was also featured in Daniella Woolf's recent publication,
Encaustic with a
Textile Sensibility. Deborah often incorporates non-traditional media into her constructions. She creates her own structural forms from paper and other materials, then builds surfaces with encaustic. She has explored a variety of ways to install her work, which will be discussed in the workshop. Kapoor has presented at the annual Encaustic Conference, Columbia College, The University of Delaware Art Museum, and as a guest lecturer at Concordia University, Illinois Institute of Art, and the University of Delaware, to name a few. She is represented by ArtXchange Gallery in Seattle and Conrad Wilde Gallery in Tucson, AZ. To learn more about Deborah and view more of her work: http://www.deborahkapoor.com/ |
